International Screenwriter’s Association

The extensive portal development and revamp of International Screenwriters Association, an online marketplace that helps screenwriters hone their skills and present their writing to the world.

The Client

The International Screenwriters’ Association is a Hollywood based screenwriting resource and community founded by filmmaker Craig James Pietrowiak. It provides resources and opportunities to writers across the world, helping them to improve their connections, hone their craft, and launch their career.

The Goal

To migrate the client ISA portal from its existing two-tier architecture to three-tier architecture using CodeIgniter framework.

The process

he migration to production was module-based. This meant that the site ran on both architectures simultaneously till the portal was completely migrated to MVC architecture. Apart from developing the portal, we also undertool continuous development to enhance certain features and streamline user experience. We are current in the a design and UX revamp of the portal which will have phased roll-outs across 2021. Highlights over the past four years have included:


  • Developing an in-depth understanding of the various user journeys and map these accurately. (The ISA website has multiple user roles, various modules and multiple layers to each process with transactions and subscriptions also being offered. The client did not have any documentation available to translate their vision into a feature.)

  • Designing and developing component-based architecture to ensure component reusability. This helped reduce the development costs and enabled features to be released in shorter developmental cycles.

  • Fine-tuning the design, providing extensive feedback on responsive design and navigation, and optimising user actions and flow.

  • The secure mapping and migration of databases between the old and new site. These comprised data belonging to over 85,000 users.

  • Ongoing support and maintenance.
